Facelift

A SMAS-deep lift — the most definitive of our anti-aging procedures.

"

The most definitive lift we offer.

"Tightening only the skin surface produces a result that fades quickly. To address the underlying cause of facial aging, the lift has to begin at the SMAS — the deeper musculoaponeurotic layer beneath the skin."

— Dr. Choi Dong-Il, Director

ABOUT

What Is a Facelift?

A surgical lift performed at the SMAS layer to address facial sagging and wrinkles at their structural source.

A Lift That Begins at the SMAS

A facelift addresses sagging skin, an undefined jawline, and overall facial wrinkles by lifting from the SMAS — the deeper musculoaponeurotic layer of the face. It is the most definitive of the anti-aging procedures we perform, with results that hold for years rather than months.

Unlike treatments that work only with the skin surface, a SMAS facelift corrects the structural descent that drives facial aging in the first place. The result is stable and long-lasting.

※ The incisions are placed within the hairline, where they remain hidden in everyday life.

WHY SMAS

Surface tightening
doesn't last.

The face is built in layers — epidermis, dermis, subcutaneous fat, and the SMAS beneath them. Most of what we read as "facial aging" is the descent of the SMAS itself, with the overlying skin following it down. Tightening only the surface tends to relax over time. Lifting and re-anchoring the SMAS layer corrects the structural source of the descent, and the result holds.

Surface only? NO!

Anatomical Precision in Dissection

The dissection is performed with careful regard for the facial nerves and vessels, supporting a safe and predictable outcome.

Hidden Incision Lines

Incisions are placed inside the hairline so the scars remain inconspicuous in daily life.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the recovery timeline?
Major swelling subsides within two to three weeks. Subtler swelling and bruising can take one to two months to fully fade. The final, settled result generally becomes apparent over three to six months.
Are the incision scars visible?
Because the incisions follow the line of the hairline and around the ears, they are generally inconspicuous in everyday life and continue to fade over time.
How long does the result last?
Because the procedure addresses the SMAS layer directly, it is the longest-holding lifting procedure we offer. Most patients enjoy a clear result for seven to ten years or more, though aging continues and individual outcomes vary.
How is this different from a thread lift?
A thread lift is non-incisional and works at the surface, whereas a facelift dissects and re-anchors the SMAS itself. The right choice depends on the depth and pattern of the descent.
Can a facelift be combined with other procedures?
Yes. Combining a facelift with fat grafting, eyelid surgery, or a thread lift is often recommended. Lifting the descent and replacing lost volume in a single plan tends to produce a more harmonious, natural result.
Important InformationAs with any surgery, possible complications include bleeding, infection, inflammation, nerve injury, scarring, and asymmetry. Individual results vary. Please consult thoroughly with your surgeon to determine the right diagnosis and treatment.
