You probably want to have surgery again as soon as possible.
If it hasn't been long since your double-eyelid surgery,
early revision can fix it!
Early revision must be done in the 3rd to 4th week
after the double-eyelid surgery.
If you miss this window,
you'll have to wait longer and, after 6 months,
undergo revision surgery!
But there's something to be careful about!
With early revision, changing the line
is not possible.
Some of you may feel discouraged at this point.
But this is to prevent the worst-case scenario
and simply cannot be avoided.
There's an incision line from your previous surgery.
Because of it, blood flow is restricted in that area.
So if, in order to change the line,
you draw a new line below it,
that area won't receive blood supply and will
become completely necrotic.
So if you want to change the line,
once the existing line has healed and blood supply is restored,
surgery is possible only from the 6-month mark.
In the end, early revision is less about aesthetics
and prioritizes functional recovery!
Many of these surgeries are about
aligning the pupils.
A typical example is
an over-corrected eye-shape correction case ("rabbit eyes" / incomplete eye closure).
In such cases, through early revision,
eye pulling, light glare, and other symptoms
can be relieved!
There is one case where we do touch the line!
That's when a multiple-fold (double-crease) eyelid has formed!
In this case we open the existing line
and release the adhesions,
so there's no risk of skin necrosis.
This lets us remove the multiple fold
and achieve a cleaner line.
However,
it cannot make the line pretty.
That's because, by removing the multiple fold,
the goal is to reduce functional side effects —
that is what we aim for.
In a word, during early revision
we correct functional problems!
But making the eyes symmetrical
or changing the line
waits until the 6-month mark after the original surgery,
when we perform a beautiful revision surgery again.
If it hasn't been long since your surgery
and you're worried the swelling is so bad your eyes look like sausages,
or whether you need to lower the line,
and you've come in out of concern,
don't be discouraged — as time passes,
please wait for the swelling to go down.
If that's not the case, you should come to the clinic
as soon as possible.
