When a patient is considering an incisional double eyelid with ptosis correction, the question they worry about most is how long the swelling will last.

What does the eyelid look like at the one-week mark?

Today's topic.

Incisional Ptosis Correction · Swelling at One Week

One week post-op.

Bruising is still present.

Pre-op view. There is mild side-to-side asymmetry, with a Mongolian fold at the medial canthus (arrow).

Probably one of the most common presentations we see.

Ptosis correction with medial and lateral epicanthoplasty. One week post-op.

A small breakout on the bridge of her nose appeared during the week.

Swelling and bruising track downward with gravity.

For medial epicanthoplasty, I prefer to control the degree of caruncle exposure rather than fully open the canthus. See my earlier post.

The thumbnail above shows a case where I closed an over-aggressive medial trim performed by a colleague at a previous practice.
