When the upper eyelid is hollowed out (sunken eye), corrective surgery focuses on restoring volume to that area.
These eyes very often present with multiple folds layered above the main crease.
We have several approaches available.

When a patient has multiple folds and looks chronically tired (as in the case above), ptosis correction alone can deliver a good result.

Older patients often present with the same picture, looking sleepy and lacking definition.

This patient was treated with fat grafting in addition to addressing the upper-lid hollow.

And this patient had severe upper-lid hollowing, so I combined fat grafting with an incisional double-eyelid procedure.
The key to this surgery is matching the approach to the specific anatomy in front of you.
