"My eyelashes are poking my eye!"

When the eyelashes turn inward and irritate the eye, the diagnosis is adult entropion. It is treated surgically.

Today's post is on adult entropion surgery.

The main symptom is exactly what you would expect: lashes poking the eye, primarily from the lower lid.

Surgery is what resolves it.

In the photo above, you can see the lashes turning inward against the cornea.

Three months post-op.

The incision line fades gradually with time.

The operative principle is straightforward: we create a crease in the lower lid, similar to a double eyelid, which redirects the lash line outward.

The procedure takes under 30 minutes. Working efficiently is what keeps the post-op swelling minimal.

Another case. Pre-op.

One week post-op.
