Many of you must be worried about how long the swelling lasts after double eyelid surgery~
Naturally, when you return to daily life at work or school,
having eyes full of swelling makes you conscious of how others look at you,
and it must be worrying in all sorts of ways.
That is why so many people have their surgery over a holiday period~
Starting today, Labour Day, and taking in the weekend,
we have a run of days off with a bridging holiday in between,
so I imagine many of you have taken the plunge and had double eyelid surgery.
They say some people do not swell after surgery,
so why am I this swollen — and will I be able to go to work
once the holiday is over? Was it that worry

Swelling can differ from person to person.
Usually the major swelling goes down in about seven days,
and after that residual swelling remains.
Residual swelling takes about 2–3 months,
and you should allow about six months for it to settle completely.
So for the first week after surgery you might go to work or school
wearing large glasses,
but after that the swelling will be on your mind.
Because of this worry, some people
search here and there for aftercare tips
for double eyelid surgery and try to follow them.
However, if you use the wrong methods at this stage,
or apply hot and cold compresses excessively,
it can actually irritate the eyes,
so we do not recommend it.

aftercare following double eyelid surgery in detail.
Based on that, we will introduce the correct way to care for your eyes.
If a small amount of bleeding occurs at the surgical site,
dabbing it gently with something like gauze
will stop it, and a scab will form afterwards.
You can wipe it gently with a cotton bud
coated with the prescribed eye ointment.
Pressing lightly to stop the bleeding at this point is also a good idea.
If a scab has formed,
gently lift it off with a cotton bud coated in eye ointment.
You need to keep the area free of blood scabs like this.
That is what makes the wound heal quickly.
It is best to apply the ointment about three times a day.
Wait — there is one thing to be careful about.
It is best not to apply it after the stitches have been removed.
Continuing to apply it after suture removal risks causing inflammation.
If you are going to use something like Contractubex ointment (a scar ointment),
you can start from at least about a week after suture removal.
If it stings when you apply it,
it is best to wait a little longer and start about
a month after the stitches are removed.
